Capital Gold and the Environment
Capital Gold Corporation is dedicated to the belief that mining should be conducted in a thoroughly responsible way. We are very much aware of our obligation to our shareholders, but we are also conscious of our responsibility to our neighboring communities and the safety of our employees. It would be true to say that these considerations are enshrined in every decision we make. Northern Sonora Mexico is a region of great beauty, and Capital Gold is dedicated to its preservation.
A Sensible Approach to Business
Capital Gold Corporation believes that a mining company's concern is to contribute to good stewardship of the environment. As evidence of that commitment, we have already begun our reclamation program several years ahead of schedule. By replanting local cactus and other flora in areas that have already been worked, we are being pro-active and remain a good neighbor. We believe this is a sensible business strategy.
El Chanate
Capital Gold Corporation is determined that the standards we set for our El Chanate mining operations, will mirror those that we set in all matters concerning the environment and will continue to involve itself in local community initiatives.
Clean Industry Certificate
Capital Gold was awarded a Clean Industry Certificate by the Mexican environmental protection authority, PROFEPA (Procuraduria Federal Proteccion al Ambiente) in recognition of our management of the El Chanate gold mine.
The certification was achieved after twenty nine months of Voluntary Environmental Audit work, which demonstrates our commitment to good stewardship of the environment while complying with international and Mexican mining standards. The attainment and maintenance of the Clean Industry Certificate, which is presented for a two-year period, is one of Capital Gold's internal requirements for its Mexican operations.
